The University of California, Berkley Women's basketball team has three Greeks currently competing in D1 Hoops. The UC Berkeley squad features Ioanna Krimili, Ornela Muca, and Anastasia Drosouni.
Ioanna Krimili, a 5-10 versatile guard graduate transfer 2023-2024, has been tremendous for the University of California Golden Bears. Ioanna is a native of Crete, Greece, and a tremendous scorer who plays every possession with high intensity. An interesting statistic this season: Ioanna scored exactly 21 points, four times vs Oregon, USC, WSU, and Washington. Her hoop career biography is quite impressive. Ioanna was outstanding as an undergraduate player at the University of San Francisco. She started in all 32 games last season averaging a team-high 16 points per game. The 4th highest in the WCC conference, playing 31.6 minutes a game. Shooting lights out from the 3- 3-point line making 84 three-pointers for the season. In addition, Krimili earned All-WCC First Team honors for three consecutive seasons. Ioanna led the WCC in scoring her first two seasons averaging 18.9 PPG and 19.4 PPG as a sophomore. She has a lot of records at USF.
Ornela Muca is a 5-7 extremely skilled guard for the Golden Bears. The Athens, Greece native is well known for her strong hustle on the court. She scored a season-high 11 points vs Colorado on January 15, 2024, going 4-5 from the field and 3-3 from beyond the arc. Ornela has a great shooting touch. She helped Panathinaikos to a first-place finish in the Under 18 Championship of Athens and a second-place result in the U-18 Championship of Greece.
Anastasia Drosouni, a talented guard stands 5-11. Anastasia a first-year freshman is well
deserving of her roster spot. The Thessaloniki, Greece native was a standout in the Euro league; playing for Aris Thessaloniki Women’s Basketball Club in the A2 division. Anastasia averaged 11.9 points, 5.9 assists, and 1.6 steals per game in 2023.

This year will be the 128th running of the historic Boston Marathon. Have you ever
wanted to participate in the world’s oldest and most famous marathon? Now you can, and at the same time help our college aged students find their roots where the Marathon was born! Currently, the AHEPA Global project is to send students of Hellenic descent to Greece through the “Journey to Greece” program to study, earn college credits, and get reacquainted with their rich Greek heritage with their tuition absolutely free! This year you can do both. After four attempts, I am happy to announce that I have qualified to run this year’s Boston Marathon on Patriot’s Day, April 15. I have proudly represented AHEPA in my five previous Marathon finishes. It’s been a life goal for me to run Boston, which has now come to fruition, and I want you to join me too! I won’t win the Boston Marathon as the Greek national running hero Stylianos Kyriakides did in 1946, but with your help we can send some of our young adults to Greece to earn college credits as they learn and connect to their Greek culture! Beginning February 20, 2024, please make a donation to the AHEPA “Journey to Greece” program to help defer the tuition costs for AHEPA’S Family future, our young adults. In return, I will print your name or Chapter on my custom-made AHEPA charity racing shirt which I will wear during my running of the 2024 Boston Marathon! With a tax-deductible donation of $100 per individual or $500 per Chapter or group, you can accompany me from the Start in Hopkinton, MA to the Finish in Boston and help our valuable students simultaneously! Thanks, President Chris Trakas and members of Athens Chapter No. 24 of Boston started the charity run with a $500 donation. 100% of your donation will go the “Journey to Greece” program. This limited time offer expires on March 25, 2024.
